What we believe about the next 12 months

Actopus Team · 2026-05-06

Something has been shifting, quietly, in what AI can actually do. We've been watching it for a while now. AI used to talk. It's starting to do.

The line between "talking" and "doing" sounds small. It isn't. Once you cross it, we don't think you re-cross it.

So here's what we believe could happen, over the next twelve months. None of these are predictions we'd bet a year of our lives against. But all of them, we think, have become more likely than not.

One. The chatbot, as a category, starts to fade. Not all at once. But more and more people, over time, will stop typing into a box and waiting for a paragraph back. They'll hand over the whole task, and walk away. The question shifts from "what should I ask the AI" to "what should I assign."

Two. Memory becomes the thing that matters. The smartest model on the leaderboard, we don't think, is what wins. The one that remembers you—your work, your preferences, what you said last Thursday—we think that's the kind that stays. A stranger that gets smarter overnight is still a stranger.

Three. A solo founder, a creator, a consultant—they were already doing the work of five. We believe many of them will, in the year ahead, actually have the team of five. Not metaphorically. Really. With a team you can rely on, you stop having to choose between the things you wanted to do.

Four. The bottleneck moves. Less doing, more deciding. Less typing, more thinking. The constraint shifts from your fingers to your judgment. A different kind of person quietly becomes powerful—the one with taste, the one who already knew what was worth doing.

Five. A new shape of company appears. One human, twenty Agents, doing what once took much larger teams. Some of them, we believe, could end up worth more than companies many times their size. Years from now we may, in hindsight, look back at this stretch of time and say this is where it started.

This is what we believe. It's also what we are building toward.

If you see what we see—come build it with us.
